Similar to Nike’s motto, “Just post it!” is a motto for people like me who worry about whether or not a post is good enough to publish. I currently have twelve drafts, each one has been edited and re-edited until I was blue in the face. They just didn’t get the point across as I had hoped. “Maybe I’ll finish and post them someday”, I think to myself.
The other day I was reading Penelope Trunk’s blog post on how to pitch a blogger on the bus ride home. Her post had so much fluff, so many unnecessary words that “shouldn’t” be there. Who cares about “shouldn’t” (apparently I do)? She doesn’t…why should I?
But this is the kind of thing that prevents me from posting my thoughts. I’m always worried that I won’t get my point across or that the reader won’t get much from it. I’m too worried about what other people think.
Penelope is not. And that is refreshing for a change. Perhaps I can learn from this and just start posting.
